Robert Tewsley

@ Former International Principal Guest Artist. Stager of the ballets by ‘Kenneth MacMillan’

Born in Leicester, he received his training at the Royal Ballet School. In 1990 he joined the
National Ballet of Canada and was promoted to Principal fours years later.
He was a Principal dancer with the Stuttgart Ballet, The Royal Ballet and New York City Ballet. He
appeared as a guest artist worldwide, including La Scala Milan, The Australian Ballet, Bayerisches
Staatsballett, Vienna Staatsballett.

Nominated Dancer of the Year in 2002 by Dance Europe Magazine, a book about his life and
career called “Dancing beyond Borders’ was published in 2012 by Dr. Julia Bührle.
He now assists with staging Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s ballets and coaches dancers around the
world.

He holds an executive diploma in Arts Administration from the University of Zurich, a BA honours
degree in European Studies from the Open University and Diplomas in German and French.
