Originally from La Rochelle, international ballet master, artistic director, assistant director
and teacher since 2012, he began his career as a professional dancer in 1989.

He has danced and worked in many prestigious companies such as the Jeune Ballet de
France, the Nederlands Dans Theater, the National Company of Spain, the Gulbenkian Ballet,
BallettMainz, Ballet de Genève, Ballet du Rhin, Moscow Ballet, Leipziger Ballett , Basel
Ballett, Tanz Mannheim or Les Grands Ballets Canadiens…

He performed the best pieces of the neoclassical and contemporary repertoire in Europe
and has been the assistant of several choreographers such as Ohad Naharin, Jiri Kylian, David
Dawson, Johan Inger and Jeroen Verbruggen.

Thanks to his experience and his encounters with great dance personalities, he has
developed his own method of ballet and improvisation training and teaches his workshops in
educational centers and companies across Europe.

Sébastien Mari offers his useful ballet classes, (dynamic and stimulating for ballet and
contemporary dancers), pointe, pas de deux technique, improvisation technique (inspired by
the methodology of choreographer William Forsythe and Saburo Teshigawara) for all styles
and age of dancers and various choreographic workshops.

In these workshops, the movement styles of choreographers will be taught, analyzed and
studied through extracts from their choreographies, such as the neoclassical language of the
famous choreographer David Dawson (Prix Benois de la danse and Golden Mask).
